Facilitated by Jerome Carslake, a workplace road safety expert, this webinar will explore how Chris Dhu of Essential Energy, and Michael Johnson of Capital and Woodlawn Wind Farms, embed a safer road safety culture within their workplaces. Guest speaker Bernard Carlon, the Executive Director of the Centre’s for Road Safety and Maritime Safety, will discuss how the NSW Government is facilitating policy to bring road trauma Towards Zero.
Jerome Carslake is currently the Professional Leader of the National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) which is delivered by the Monash University Accident Research Centre. Jerome has extensive knowledge in workplace road safety management, program delivery and the collaborative development of solutions. He has a broad background in transport including leading the development of the NRSPP and other strategic projects during his time at the National Transport Commission, prior to that he was a consultant and policy adviser within the agricultural and renewable sectors and their related supply chains.
Bernard joined Transport for NSW in 2012 as the Director, Strategy and Policy and has led the Centre for Road Safety since 2015 and Maritime Safety since 2016. He is a board member of ANCAP and a member of the Austroads National Road Safety Taskforce. Bernard has held senior state government roles in policy, regulation, communications and program delivery across the Health, Justice, Environment and Transport portfolios. He is charged with leading the Road Safety and Maritime Safety Strategy’s to move the trauma on our roads and waterways Towards Zero.
Chris Dhu is the Head of Fleet at Essential Energy, which encompasses strategic and cultural management of a geographically dispersed team, structured into 3 maintenance delivery arms and one engineering and planning division.
Chris is presently delivering a Fleet Asset Management Transformation Program with the intent to improve the balance of Fleet performance, risk and cost. Essential Energy’s fleet is comprised of 1833 self-propelled and 1197 towable assets. They range from heavy assets such as prime movers, mobile cranes, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms and live voltage equipped trucks down through commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles to also include highly specialised electrical assets, such as all-terrain equipment. The asset portfolio covers a broad area that includes 95% of NSW and areas of southeast Queensland, and is designed to access any environment (urban, snow, rural and remote).
With 17 years’ experience in the renewable energy industry, from manufacturing through to operations and with a technical and project management focus, Michael has acquired a broad understanding of the renewables value chain in a global context. In the variety of roles held during this time, he has sought opportunity to push the envelope, question the status quo and solve problems with innovative approaches.
Currently Michael is employed by Infigen Energy as Site Manager for the Capital Renewable Energy Precinct located near Bungendore NSW. This role provides leadership and management of all operational and commercial activities for assets on site comprising the Capital and Woodlawn Wind Farms and Capital East Solar Farm.
