The NSW Government has released the Draft Gwydir Regional Water Strategy for public consultation from 25 September to 13 November 2020.

public information webinar session is being hosted as part of the consultation

The Gwydir Regional
Water Strategy is one of 12 regional water strategies being developed across
NSW. These strategies will provide us a roadmap for planning more resilient
communities over the next 20 to 40 years.

Shagofta Ali is an Acting Director in the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. She leads the teams working on regional water strategies in the north-western parts of NSW.
Shagofta has over 10
years' strategic policy experience working across state and federal
governments, including in a range of natural resource management portfolios
including water, fisheries, crown land, resources and energy.
Amanda is a Manager with the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and the Environment. She is part of the NSW Regional Water Strategy team and leads the development of the Gwydir Regional Water Strategy and the delivery of the Greater Hunter Regional Water Strategy.
Daren is the Director of Barma Water Resources. He has extensive knowledge in water management having been involved in water management related to Australia and in particular the Murray-Darling Basin for most of the last 30 years.
Daren has carried out
numerous technical, policy and planning studies in relation to water resource
management. These include water balance and data analysis projects as part of
his work in developing IQQM, eWater Source and hydrodynamic models and water
sharing strategies for NSW and Queensland valleys of the Murray Darling Basin.
He has also conducted river system model reviews for the NSW and Queensland
Daren was the external
reviewer for river system models as part of the CSIRO Murray Darling Basin
Sustainable Yields Project and reviewed the river system models used in
development of the Murray Darling Basin Plan. Most recently Daren was a member
of the Australian Government’s Independent Assessment panel investigating the
2018-19 fish deaths in the lower Darling.
