The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) regulates the supply of goods and services to consumers in Australia and a “consumer” can include another business. Fundamental features of the ACL include mandatory consumer guarantees, prohibitions on misleading and deceptive conduct and unconscionable conduct, and unfair contract terms (including in terms of trade). A business must be aware of and comply with these requirements and educate relevant personnel as even an inadvertent breach by a staff member can expose a business to liability. If the goods or services you provide end up in the hands of consumers, then tune into our webcast to find out more about what you must do!
